First-Time Registration

First-Time Students
New international students at Highline register for classes after they arrive on campus. You should plan to come at least two weeks early to be well-rested and ready to go! We recommend that you understand the requirements for you program or major to assist you in choosing your classes.

There are four steps you must follow when you register for the first time:

  1. Come to the International Student Programs office on the 5th floor of Building 25 (the library) to check in and pick up your application receipt. Bring your passport, I-20 and insurance card (if you have one).
  2. Take your Placement Tests. Highline's Placement Tests will determine your English and math abilities so you can register for the correct class levels.
  3. Register for classes.  All instructions are given during the Class Selection Seminar that's offered several times each quarter, including Welcome Week.

Tuition Payment
After you register, you will need to pay your tuition within 48 hours, so please be prepared! Tuition is charged by quarter, so you only pay for one quarter at a time. Payment can be made at the Cashier's office in building 6 by credit card (Master Card or Visa only), debit card, cash, traveler's check, or preprinted personal check. The cashier's office cannot accept temporary checks from a new checking account that are not preprinted with name and address.
