Registration
New students are encouraged to enroll for classes prior to arrival, but classes may also be added/changed during the orientation week. Please see the Arrival and Orientation page for more details.
Current students may review the following information for how to register.
Remember: To maintain F-1 status, international students must always be enrolled for at least 12 units (credits) per quarter, and only one remote class can count toward a full course of study each quarter. Any exceptions to these rules must match government regulations and be approved by ISP advisors in advance.
Dates and Deadlines
Be sure to review the Dates and Deadlines page carefully and adhere to the deadlines.
Check Class Availability and Register for Classes
You can look at the classes that are available, and register for classes by visiting Highline’s Registration page. Please visit that page for instructions about how to register.
Minimum and Maximum Credits
Minimum Credits
To maintain F-1 status, international students must always be enrolled for at least 12 units (credits) per quarter, and only one remote class can count toward a full course of study each quarter. Any exceptions to these rules must match government regulations and be approved by ISP advisors in advance.
Maximum Credits
18 credits is the maximum credit load per quarter for most students. You can receive permission for additional credits if you meet the following two criteria:
- You have completed a minimum of 15 college level credits at Highline.
- Your college level GPA at Highline is 3.0 or higher.
If you wish to take more than 18 credits and you meet the criteria, register for the majority of your classes by yourself then complete the add/drop form for the remaining class(es). Your faculty advisor or ISP advisor will confirm your eligibility and add the class(es) for you.
Changing Classes (Add/Drop)
Before you drop a class, remember that international students must maintain full-time enrollment each quarter. Even if you are failing a class, DO NOT drop below 12 units or you will be out of status.
Also make sure to pay any tuition or fees you may owe. Your ctclink will update your financial account to reflect the class change(s). You are responsible for making any additional payments immediately.
Go to Highline’s Add/Drop page for instructions about how to register and change classes.
Tuition, fees, and registration blocks
International students pay non-resident tuition. Please see the tuition table for details. Tuition rates are set by the Washington State legislature.
For information about fees, including the Late Course Add Fee, please visit the registration fees page.
For information about blocks on your registration, visit the registration blocks page.
