How to Apply

In order to apply to Highline College as an international student, you must be 16 years old or older at the time you begin your studies. Please note that Campus View Student Housing is required for all first-quarter international students unless (a) the student qualifies for a specific exemption or (b) there are no available rooms in Campus View.

This application is for international students only. U.S. citizens or immigrants should visit Admissions for application information.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must be 16 years old or older at the time they start studying at Highline College.
  • Applicants must submit a completed application form and all required documents.
  • Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.
  • Applicants must pay the international application fee of $54.00 USD
  • Transfer students must submit additional documentation. See transfer students section.

Before you Begin

Have the following items ready before you start the application:

  • Passport
  • Home address
  • English Proficiency test information
  • Visa information, if you are currently studying in the U.S.
  • Educational plans: what do you want to study? You can choose from more than 100 degrees and certificates within our pathways.

Three Easy Steps to Apply

Step 1: Complete the online application form

For the fastest service, please complete the online application. If you are unable to complete the online application, please complete this PDF version and email it to ISPAdmissions@highline.edu. The application process will be delayed for applicants who use the PDF version.

Step 2: Send ALL documents together in one email to ISPAdmissions@highline.edu

  • Scan/photo of unexpired passport (biographical page only)
  • Completed Consent Form
  • Proof of English Proficiency
    • OR If all your classes were taught in English in your home country, you can submit a secondary school unofficial transcript or a letter from the school confirming that your classes were taught in English.
  • Updated bank statement (1 or 2 pages only). You must provide the most recent bank statement, dated within 6 months prior to date of submission, and the statement must show an ending balance of at least $22,360 USD or equivalent. If providing a company bank statement, a sponsor letter is also required. Funds are equivalent to the tuition and living expenses for one academic year of study, or 9 months.

Step 3: Make Payment

Pay the ISP Application Fee using the following instructions. Please note that the country you are from will help determine which website to use to pay.

Optional Materials

These items are not required for admission but may assist with academic advising.

  1. Unofficial transcripts from any colleges or universities you have attended.  (Note that official transcripts must be submitted if transfer credit is desired. Learn about the Transcript Evaluation Process.)
  2. Your high school transcripts, if you wish to demonstrate your background in science or math.

Transfer Students

If you are transferring to Highline from a U.S. high school or another U.S. college, you need to send the following additional information to our office along with your other application materials:

  1. A transfer report that has been completed by your current international student advisor.
  2. A scan or copy of all previously issued I-20s.
  3. A scan or copy of your F-1 visa or your I-797 approval notice if you changed to F-1 status within the US.
  4. Unofficial transcripts from all schools you have attended in the US.

After You Complete the Application

When our office receives your application and materials, we will send you a confirmation message and an update regarding your application status.
